Who Started Crime Scene Cleanup

Many people have recently become very interesting in the growing business  of crime scene cleanup and after death cleaning.  The main focus of this blog to start will be to introduce people to the growing business of crime and trauma decontamination services.  It will help the reader understand who some of the larger companies are that do business in this field and what kind of jobs they help families with.  We hope that you enjoy your experience learning about this fascinating business.

The world was once without companies that called themselves crime scene cleanup services.  Not until the late 1980's is there any record of a crime scene cleanup company existing.  The reasons are complex and simple at the same time.  For the most part there is a few reasons do this that we will go into now.  First and most importantly, prior to 1980 and the AID Pandemic, very few people had the fear of blood related diseases.  Fast forward to the 80's and beyond and people became widely familiar with the fact that blood borne pathogens could wreak havoc on ones health.  This is the primary reason, because prior to this many people who had blood or a death at a home would try to clean the property themselves. There are a few other reasons too.  Some of them are simply related to how we lived at one time as a society.  We had less guns in homes and therefore less suicide by gun and we had nuclear families at home which enable a death to be discovered right away.  Keep in mind there is always extenuating circumstances even back then.

Fast forward to the decades proceeding this period we see that crime scene cleanup companies started becoming a necessary option.  For more reasons then just blood borne pathogens too, many cities and States enacted environmental protection laws that required biohazard waste (the blood) to be disposed of properly.  This for example is why carpet cleaners and other cleaning companies will never do a crime scene or suicide cleanup.  They just don't have the proper equipment and licensing and can not handle the fines they could get for helping a family.  Not only do they need hazmat equipment and clothing to provide OSHA.GOV compliance they also need to ensure compliance with EPA like regulations.
